Somehow, all of them except for one boy turned off the light which made our basement totally dark and went upstairs, forgetting that the koda boy was left behind. The poor koda boy was terrified of the dark, he didn't know what to do, he had to fumble around to find the stairs to get back upstairs and to get to the door. Upon coming out, he ran to us and told us that he was crying and screaming but our koda kids and his koda sister didn't hear him at all. Poor him, he refused to come back to our house again for a long time and then when he got older, he came back to our house. For a few years, he thoght that they deliberately did this on purpose (which I don't think so) but this experience terrified him. If we were hearing, would this have changed the course? Who knows?michelenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9042015333410392624.post-9232396568704339302007-11-25T08:10:00.000-08:002007-11-25T08:10:00.000-08:00I laughed at this, not because you're such funny C...I laughed at this, not because you're such funny CODAs (that's a given), but because I had similar experiences as a deaf of deaf child...I even have video footage of me proudly showing off my potty training success as a toddler, complete with pigtails and a big, goofy grin..and a very disgusting step at the end. Ask me about it; I promise it'll serve as blackmail for you guys (against me, that is!) someday...

As for people who get CIs because "they can't hear their kids," they insult all the deaf parents who survived just fine for hundreds of years. My parents, for one. And yours. And so on...but I digress.

Happy November 25th. :)Bert & Ernie Groupienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9042015333410392624.post-6730177099494886052007-11-25T07:04:00.000-08:002007-11-25T07:04:00.000-08:00I am laughing, I love your Coda story. My two coda ...I am laughing, I love your Coda story.

My two coda children --that time we bought a big ranch house with only one floor while my girl took a shower in a private bathroom in my master bedroom while my older son was watching TV in an other far side -family room, I am totally deaf mother, I can feel that she had been stayed in the shower too long while my CODA son hasn't hear anything that means so I went to check on her, I found that she was stuck in the shower that can't able to open the door, plus she was crying! My son did not hear her crying cuz it was too far to other side. After that she never use my private bathroom AGAIN plus my husband already fixed it up so it won't stuck again, but she still won't use them even again. We have another bathroom for her by close! Poor her, Good thing I did check on her on a right time by in my heart!

Looking forward to your CD!Jachttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02134177631666414139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9042015333410392624.post-82477850929458178602007-11-25T04:50:00.000-08:002007-11-25T04:50:00.000-08:00Get Mom! hahahahaha same thing my brother (hearing...Get Mom! hahahahaha same thing my brother (hearing) and me always scare our poor mother!!!! especially with frog, mice and bugs! I ...You're topics are still funny and entertaining. I haven't lost interest and you haven't lost your knack! You've got what it takes!

Yes, my own CODA son had to make choice when toilet training. Dad can hear, but he was not always home. My son is an only, so if Dad wasn't home, his choice was to walk to me and ask to help wipe, or to learn to do it himself - which most often he did. However, the toilet was near the light switch so sometimes he would sit there on the potty and flip the lights on and off until I would see them and come help. But that got old real fast as he didn't want to sit there for too long hoping I would see the lights. Ultimately, he learned to take care of himself. Most CODA's become pretty independent fairly quick.

Thanks for the fun, as always.

~ LaRondaLaRondahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16417090261784701724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9042015333410392624.post-4368021946863587652007-11-24T11:48:00.000-08:002007-11-24T11:48:00.000-08:00You guys are hilarious! No wonder, my Deaf hubby and I figure out how our nearly 6 years old CODA son tend to come to us from the other room to tell us something funny or show us his newest project -- totally a different picture than what he does with his hearing relatives. This topic essentially pushes us to see the edge! Hmmm, a vlog in the making!

David Martin, I amend to add to "Deaf moms" with "dads" -- To all Deaf moms and dads, you are the BEST parents in the world! She felt she was the worst mom because she could not hear her son in pain. Your story validates my thinking that her son is not a CODA. The son just sits there and bawls instead of finding a way to get mom. To all Deaf moms...you are the best momthers in the world.

DavidDavid A.
