LOL.. I remembered when my hearing sister and I were using our home signs, too. Today, we still even use it! While my two children were watching our communication to try figure it out to understand what we talk about. LOL..
Oh you are good! So dead on accurate that it's scary! However, I would love to have a brother like Uncle Mike more so than many hearing siblings that are out there...who just mouth words! You rock, guys!
While it's interesting that siblings may resort to home signs once they meet despite being progressed w/ ASL, I imagine this is funnier seeing them do this in person. Nice try thou.
Cool show, it bring me a lot memory when I communicate with my dad. He make up his own sign and I didnt have the heart to correct his sign. At least I understood what he say, ha.
You guys are the champs of DeafRead comedy! Do you give shows? You should! You're becoming very popular with us deafies and probably other Codas too! I laughed a lot at the home signs. Some of them are like the signs my hearing husband and son make to me! Oy!
There is no stop using home signs because I worked with hearing people. I still use it with hearing people but some of them dont understand and other hearing people understand. I love using home signs and gesture with hearing people because they are cluess and not thinking LOL.
That reminds me of my mother and brother, who both do many home signs while I grew up. Most of them (home signs) are hiliarous, really! They only want to try their best they could communicate with me.
lol... i love this because i am CODA my parent are deaf and my aunt deaf.. my husband's family are deaf.. even i see my uncle and aunt who are hearing are like that the way you show us... it makes me so LAUGH i love it.. IT IS True....we r from another country iran... my uncle who is deaf he is very old man never been in school before he sign very different.. it is hard to explain.. please check www.deafiran.com thank u
Original! Home Signs wow you performed home signs to perfection. You guys are pros. After being so immersed in ASL, seeing "Home Signs" brought back memories of some friends who in fact communicated using home signs. You crack me up, too.
Sadly.... I fear I'm like your uncle. My ASL needs work and when in high school and was hanging out with my friend who is deaf...I had to rely a lot on fingerspelling and "home" signs.... which is a nicer way of calling it then what I call it, "bas**rd sign". I will keep working on my ASL skilz. LOVE the Vlog!
OUR LATEST VLOG 'DEAF DRIVING' IS A STORY, NEVER BEFORE SEEN, TAKEN RIGHT FROM THE DVD!!!
LIKE DEAF DRIVING, THE WHOLE DVD IS REDONE, RESHOT, EXPANDED AND FUNNIER THAN EVER!!! THE VLOGS ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO THE DVD!!!
We are happy to announce the the CODA Brothers DVD is ready for sale (Pah!)! The DVD is so much better and funnier than the Vlogs. Why? Because we had the time to go into great detail and retell many of our original stories (much funnier). We expanded on each and every story, using a Professional Video Company and Studio!
The DVD also has 2, never been seen before, stories, as well as 'What is a CODA' and 'About Andy and Ben'.
To learn more about where to buy the DVD, go to www.codabrothers.com.

Heh. I would probably want to crawl under a rock if anybody saw my hearing grandmother and me talking!
I'll bet you that is pretty common for deaf people and I would love to see more on that. Reenactments, etc.

Home signs are good for the foreign people we could communicate with. I do the home signs with the people who cannot speak english.
What did your uncle and Dad react when you both appear this vlog?
You both have never bored to me at all! You both have made me laugh all the way UNTIL my stomach muscle worn out!
